LOS ANGELES-
Kayt Jones began her career as a photographer in London, the city where she was born and raised. When at seventeen she spent the money she had saved for a car on a Leica M4 her fate was sealed. She started taking pictures of her friends and strangers... on the streets and in the clubs...
She studied Film and Photography in London at University of Westminister but "it was mostly very intellectual not really practical at all" and by the time she graduated in 1996 she was eager to start taking pictures again...
She fell into Fashion photography - because it allowed her to create mise-en-scene but in a temporal way. Her love of cinema is very evident in her images - which often feel like stills from a movie that was never shot. She is currently combining a career in photography with her first professional foray into film-making
In 2006 she moved to Los Angeles with her actor husband, Jay Rodan, to raise their two daughters in a city she loves because "it is surrounded by nature and light".
Today, Jones's portraits and fashion images appear in such publications as i-D, Harpers Bazaar, Teen vogue, D-magazine, Italian Amica and Vibe. With commercial clients that range from Yohji Yamamto and Fendi to Adidas and Boots, UK. She has participated in exhibitions in London, Paris, New York and Milan.
